National Park Partners

Sustainability is a frequently-used term today – the Hainich National Park according to its ideology first of all associates it with environmental protection – but what does this mean? What are National Park Partners and what is special about them?

There are National Park Partners in many regions around the National Park – all over Germany. At the moment, there are 13 certified companies in the World Heritage Region Wartburg Hainich. They have been certified in accordance with strict, uniform criteria that are applied throughout Germany and have been granted the quality seal of the same name. In the capacity of a National Park Partner, a company feels particularly committed to the philosophy of the National Park: saving energy or the conscious waiver of disposable packaging are a matter of course. The use of energy-saving lamps and reduction of water consumption as well as the ability to inform about environmentally conscious offers by the public transport infrastructure (ÖPNV) in the region are another example of environmentally compatible action.

Furthermore, the partner companies attach particular importance to quality and practiced regionalism. To know the origin of a product – by this principle, the hosts are mainly supplied by regional producers and providers and can thus score points with a high-quality regional cuisine or equipment. But an internal quality management, e.g. a complaint management scheme for guests, also belongs to the binding criteria. The National Park Partners function as example and “Head of Mission” of their national natural landscape and thus support the tourist development of the region.
