Gottesackerkirche Bad Langensalza
The Gottesackerkirche (God’s Acre Church) St. Trinitatis enchants its guests as concert church with unique acoustics. The baroque ceiling paintings in the former cemetery church have been shining in new splendour since 2009.
From 1734 until 1739, the Gottesackerkirche St. Trinitatis in the arboretum was constructed from travertine stones of the Marienkirche that had been destroyed in the Thirty Years’ War. In contrast to the strict, symmetrically structured outdoor construction, the rich baroque interior of the hall church surprises with two-storeys wooden galleries and a pulpit altar from 1734. The equipment also includes the relief of a Madonna from the Marienkirche, two baroque epitaphs and an organ of Friedrich Erdmann Petersilie from the year 1869.
