Werratal Cycle Path

Past castles and little towns with half-timbered houses

Enchanting landscapes from the Thuringian Forest via the Thuringian Rhön Mountains to the hilly country of the Werrabergland stretch along the Werratal Cycle Path over a length of 300 km. In Hann. Münden, it continues as Weser Cycle Path.

The Werratal Cycle Path leads through the World Heritage Region between Hörschel, the place where the Rennsteig starts, and Wanfried with its old Werra harbour. Neat little towns with half-timbered houses line the trail as well as limestone cliffs with a large number of orchids and the dense beech forests of the Hainich. Thanks to historic and modern bridges, you can time and again change the side of the river as well as the perspective. You can get deeper into the World Heritage Region via the Unstrut-Werra Cycle Path from Treffurt to Mühlhausen and via the Gelbe Route (Yellow Route) from Creuzburg through the Hainich National Park to Bad Langensalza.
