Primeval Forest Path

National Park Hiking Trail

At night, there are so many stars twinkling at the sky that it is impossible to count them all. In the Primeval Forest, the Hainich, there are almost as many living beings. You can discover them on the Primeval Forest Path.
The Primeval Forest Path is only 1.6 kilometres long, but there is nevertheless a lot to be discovered on the circular hiking trail – such like the Steinerne Tisch (Stony Table). In former times, judgements were made at such tables. Today, you can take a rest there and look for one of the 10 stations by which the Primeval Forest reveals to you how much life there is in it. Here you will learn the meaning of deadwood or why the edge of the forest is important. And in order to avoid that you accidentally overlook one of the stations, all of them are marked by numbered signs. So you can discover the forest habitat with all of its facets.
