National Park Hiking Trail

Saugraben Trail in the Hainich National Park

The traces left in the forest by the symbolic animal of the Saugraben Trail, the wild boar, can certainly be detected along the hiking trail, whereas you will need some luck in order to get a sight of the animals themselves.

This hiking trail can be started both from the parking lot “Zollgarten” as well as from the parking lot “Fuchsfarm”.

It runs through the most different biotopes and in an impressive way shows the diversity of the Hainich. Succession areas, young forests, deciduous and mixed forests, deadwood in large quantities and even an orchard meadow will be found by the hiker along the 10 km long trail which will take approx. 3 hours.
