National Park Hiking Trail
In the tracks of the wildcats, hikers will explore the Hainich National Park if they follow the 7 km long wildcat trail the attractions of which are extraordinary works of art along the wayside and a spectacular view.
Past the wildcat barn and the wildcat enclosure, the sculpture way leads in the direction of the deserted village “Hesswinkel“, further to the “Dicke Eiche” and from there up to the viewing platform “Hainichblick“. Here the visitors are offered a breath-taking view all around, including the Hainich Park, the Hörselberge and the Werratal and if visibility is good, even the UNESCO World Heritage Wartburg. The way back leads us in the direction of Hütscheroda through the premises of the former military training area which slowly becomes overgrown again.
