Canoe trekking on the Werra

Kanuwandern

From the town of Themar the River Werra, the "river with a soul", can be easily navigated by canoe over a distance of some 200 km. The views of the surrounding landscapes of the Thuringian Forest, Rhön and Hainich are simply superb.

The canoe tour of the World Heritage region begins at the old hydro-electric plant in Spichra. Before reaching the old Werra port of Wanfried the canoe stops of Mihla, Ebenshausen, Frankenroda, Falken and Treffurt await their guests. Rafting tours offer enjoyment for groups. Young river pirates on school trips are welcome at the boat house Mihla. Nights under canvas can be enjoyed in Creuzburg, Mihla, at the Ebenshausen nature camping ground and at Probstei Zella. Combination tours with bike and boat are particularly enjoyable.
